Is polyurethane an adhesive?

I am attempting to make an ottoman. I cannot staple or nail the vinyl to the stool (it is plastic). I have seen polyurethane used as a sealant, and wondered if I could also use it as an adhesive.

The 1st reply is good info, however you need to test the adhesive on a scrap vinyl as it may “melt” the vinyl or the plastic stool top. There are many liquid nail products, make sure they are designed for your material. Another thought is ex: stool top is 14″ round, get a piece if 3/8 plywood, mount the wood by drilling pilot holes under the seat, screw it from the bottom. Now you can staple or tack the vinyl in place.
